Do you drink diet?

diabetes diet for women
musulmanaitaliana asked:

I am 18 weeks pregnant. My doctor says that drinking diet is no good for my pregnancy.
Anything with real sugar gives me horrible heart burn. So when i crave something sweet, once in a while, I go for a diet soda instead.
Women with diabetes drink it all the time.
So i was just wondering what kind of soda do you pregnant ladies drink?
yeah..i agree with most of you. If i do drink it, I should only drink it sparingly. I can’t drink regular soda or juice, the sugars in it set my stomach on fire!

well…i guess that leaves me with water!

thanx

Mildred

I have heard mixed things about it, but I drink diet Mt. Dew just because I like the taste of it. Not excessively, maybe one every couple of days. I think as long as you keep it to a minimum, you’re okay.

I do not drink diet anything, but when pregnant, I just cut out all soda, although I am not a big soda drinker.

Diet is really not good for the baby. Of course, it’s not really good for anyone - they’ve found that something in diet soda turns to formaldehyde (spelling) in your stomach. Yuck! With the amount of sugar and stuff in soda, I tried not to drink it at all when I was pregnant. And if you have to, drink only non-caffinated soda.

ha I’ve never heard of drinking diet drinks being harmful for baby ever, some women are diabetic in pregnancy and they drink them…
I’m not diabetic but i been drinking mostly all diet pops all this time and everything is fine, dont want to have too much of those sugar rush stuff anyways….

I pretty much drink no soda at all. I have gestational diabetes, and I **** diet soda (or diet anything, it all tastes gross to me.) I can’t drink soda because of how many carbohydrates are in it. I can’t drink juice or a lot of milk either (and that’s what I crave!).
I’ve always been the kind of person who drank at least a few Pepsi’s a day (and I was addicted to the caffeine). But when I got pregnant, the caffeine started to make me sick. Around halfway through my pregnancy, caffeine didn’t make me sick anymore, but shortly after I found out I had gestational diabetes. So, I’ve pretty much had to give up soda the whole time. I really miss Pepsi, but it’s for the baby so oh well.

my brother in law is a doctor and he told me the whole problem with that is the aspertame (at least in diet coke) I drink the nasty, caffiene free coke…its not very good but i love soda…something about that fizz:) and some orange pops are caffiene free, also rootbeer(watch out though..that at least for me causes alot of gas) ;) and ginger-ale

Well for women with diabetes, its a life or death issue for mom and baby. Its not recommended. You can try splenda, I’ve heard that’s the safest non sugar, otherwise sacrifice for your baby’s health - its what we moms have to do! I don’t drink soda while pregnant, and force the water - once in a while I will try a 7up because of my severe morning sickness.

I don’t drink a lot of soda but if i do i just drink caffeine free or just regular.

I drink caffeine free Pepsi…this is what I drank while I was prego with DS and what I have returned to drinking now that I am TTC #2. I have heard that aspartame in diet sodas is what is worrisome…there is no evidence that it is harmful but no evidence that it is not harmful either. Coke Zero is sweetened with Splenda, which is OK. I also drank decaf iced tea sweetened with Splenda ALL THE TIME!

  15. Teeny Beeny Says:

I drink Diet Coke, and my doctor has said that is fine. I have been getting migraines this pregnancy, and the caffeine helps keep them to a minimum. I didn’t drink any pop at all during my first pregnancy, it completely disgusted me!

I drink up to 3 cans a day, and my doctor has assured me that it is totally safe.

  16. Liza Says:

I avoided diet soda during my pregnancy, and I don’t drink sugared soda. So to satisfy my sweet tooth, I drank soda water with a splash of grape juice, or orange juice, lemon juice, or cranberry juice (all unsweetened). Over ice, the drink was really refreshing and you don’t have to use much juice. I found that drinking orange juice straight gave me heartburn, but I loved this drink so much, I still prefer it to diet soda, and it’s something I can feel good about giving to my kids.

  17. Fallaya Says:

I drink diet soda occasionally. Everything in moderation.

    Diet A&W Rootbeer (caffeine-free)
    Diet Sunkist Orange (some caffeine)

    Regular Sprite (occasionally) (caffeine-free)

  18. mommy Says:

I don’t drink diet. My favorite drink is Diet White Raspberry Lipton tea, but when I did some research on the ingredients some of the artifical sweetners used in diet drinks are downright dangerous during pregnancy. When I am really craving, I get a bottle of regular pepsi. It has less than 300 mg of caffeine in it and I only have 1 or 2 every few weeks.
