What can expect from an introductory weight training class?

Basically what I’m asking is would you say it’s suitable for a 30 year old woman with who has had two kids? What is the gender ratio going to be like? I know it’s an intro class but I’ve still got my hesitations..

If its an intro class, the instructor should focus on proper form so you don’t hurt yourself. Usually they’re mainly women, depends on the gym.
Go! Be brave! Even if the class is filled with toned people (which it won’t be!) every one has to start somewhere. Most likely, you’ll find the class filled with moms just like you. You’ll be shocked at how fast you become proficient at the various exercises.
You can expect sore muscles the first 2 weeks or so. Perfectly normal - don’t use this as an excuse to give up.
And soon the newbies will be looking at YOU and thinking “I hope I can look that good.”

The gym is always a little intimidating for women. After all most gyms are male dominated. I’ve been working out for years and I’ve just now learned to push my way in there, do what I need to do and not worry about who is watching. Just be sure and wear something you will be comfortable in and nothing too tight :o)
Another thing to think on is that if you are going to an introductory class everyone there will be learning. I’m sure you won’t be alone in feeling the way you do.
One last thing, in my area there are exclusive gyms for women only. That might be something you could look into as well. Don’t let your fear hold you back. Weight training is extremely beneficial to women. It has many benefits including the prevention of osteoporosis. However, it is very important to have proper form so as not to get injured.
